How to Apply Track ApplicationThe Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is a leading scientific and technology research organisation that researches, develops, localises and diffuses technologies to accelerate socio economic prosperity in South Africa.
The organisation’s work contributes to industrial development and supports a capable state.
The Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) established the Inter-bursary Support Programme for postgraduate studies to support capacity development in key strategic and priority areas identified in key departmental strategies.
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is supporting the DSI in the development of skills in these areas.
Current university students accepted or registered for full-time studies at any South African university looking to complete a Honours, 4th year Engineering, Postgraduate Diploma, Masters or Doctoral qualification.
Please Note: The CSIR-DSI Inter-Bursary Support Programme applications are restricted to those students whose degrees are aligned to specific thematic research areas and research themes/technology streams. Supervisor endorsement and motivation will be required with each bursary application for Masters and Doctoral applications.
Preference will be given to applicants from previously disadvantaged backgrounds and people living with disabilities.

Applicants who started applications on the previous application form will be able to continue here, using their application IDs
Applicants who got rejected for the 2022 call may also submit new applications for the Mining Thematic area using this application
